The interactions between the Anomaly and the dual universes are not yet entirely known, but several studies have been made by the Sectra Anomaly Research Department of the Global Federation of Nations. The Sectra Anomaly acts as something of a screen between Reality and Toonity, separating the two parallel but inverse universes. The Anomaly itself consists entirely of densely packed positive particles, concentrated in the Anomaly itself, but interspursed in both Reality and Toonity. These particles were first noted by Doctor Jonathan Aubman in late 1916. While Doctor Aubman did not discover the Sectra Anomaly itself, his discovery did lead to Alex Trenton and Doctor Andrew Johnson discovering the Sectra Anomaly in the late 1940's. Both Doctor Johnson, a well-respected researcher in this field, and Mr. Trenton, a relative unknown (see file #713F5) were lost in an accident during experiments conducted on the Sectra Anomaly. The first practical application of the Sectra Anomaly was initiated by General Simon Whitfield in 1942. A small object (an apple) was sent through a gateway to the Sectra Anomaly. Records show the apple was returned to the place of origin three minutes and twenty seven seconds later, intact and identical to its pre-launch state. Due to political sensitivity at the time, the project was buried until well into the 21st century, and was not begun again until Marvin Jones' private research team began experimenting with the Anomaly. EXTERNAL SECTRA PROPERTIES The Sectra Anomaly is unlike any other substance in either Reality or Toonity. It assumes a liquid-like shell, but masses leaving or entering it 'stretch' the Sectra. The 'stretching' action, if too excessive (ie, too many masses, or too large a mass, leaving or entering the Sectra Anomaly) lead to the Sectra hardening and shattering, similarly to glass. Once this glasslike shell is shattered, the Sectra Anomaly itself leaks through the breach. The Anomaly seems to be self-sustaining in that it is able to repair breaches with no external energy input. However, (see file #713F6), the repairing capabilities of the Anomaly are limited. The positively charged particles in the vicinity of the charged device are attracted towards it, and once a sufficient positive charge is obtained from the positive Sectra particles, the energy is used to open a gateway to the Anomaly. This energy is slowly dispursed back to the surrounding atmosphere, eventually closing the gateway. DANGERS The interaction between the Sectra Anomaly and elements of either Toonity or Reality have proven to be dangerous. The inverse nature of the universes themselves makes travelling between them dangerous (see file #713F6), but there are also assosciated dangers. The main danger of the Sectra Anomaly is that it seems to treat objects passing through it similarly to the way a lens treats light travelling through it; it refracts and distorts the signal. The nature of the Anomaly to distort the signal would make traversing it impossible if it were not for the liquid-like state of it. As the Anomaly changes shape, 'windows' of low focus occur, allowing a signal to pass through the Anomaly relatively undamaged. If a signal is passing through the Anomaly at a time other than when a 'window' is in place, the signal will be distorted greatly and the mass being sent through will be scattered into its component atoms when it reaches the other side. Modern Sectra Penetration Devices have a safeguard against this. A variation on this law occured for a brief time in 2046. During this time, an attack on the Sectra Anomaly by Alez Rat/Alex Trenton (see file #713F6) distorted it, rendering it permanently in a state of low focus. This lead to its collapse. (See file #713F6) Another danger inherant to interdimensional travel is the friction caused when particles of the Anomaly come into contact with particles of either Reality or Toonity. The extremely different nature of these particles causes them to collide spectacularly, splitting on contact and sending out large doses of radiation. This is espescially notable around the edges of a gateway into the Anomaly. A third problem is the 'thickness' of the Anomaly. When penetration occurs from either side, a certain level of power is required to travel through to the other side. (See figure 4c.) Modern SPDs have safeguards to prevent an insufficent charge being delivered, this was made a mandatory part of SPD design after the drafting of the TransUniversal Travel Act was passed in 2052. This act was put in place after hidden files detailing the death of Doctor Andrew Johnson were found, describing the insufficient power given to the gateway that killed him. General Whitfield's service record was declared invalid and he was posthumously dishonourably discharged from the US Army after the files that he had hidden were discovered. The reasons for him to hide the files remain unknown at this time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Internal File #713F5 PEOPLE INVOLVED WITH SECTRA ANOMALY - PROJECT JERICHO This document serves to provide information and insight on the people involved in the discovery and utilization of the Sectra Anomaly. This document was produced by the Sectra Anomaly Research Department of the Global Federation of Nations, funded in part by the Government of the United States of America. Declassified as of July 23rd, 2079 by order of the Supreme High Court of Washington D.C. DOCTOR JONATHAN AUBMAN (1869 - 1932) The man responsible for initially discovering the Sectra Anomaly in Reality; this occured in 1916, as a side effect of an experiment conducted under the Office of Special Services of the era. The intial goal of the project (dubbed 'Project Jericho' in 1931, after the biblical Wall of Jericho, after the discovery seemingly wall-like properties of the Anomaly) was to create a biological weapon to use against the German armed forces during the conflict of the time, World War I. Although this goal was eventually obtained by other means, Project Jericho changed focus after it was named after the biblical wall, from creating a weapon to breaking down the wall of the Anomaly and discovering what lay on the other side. Doctor Aubman was instrumental in the creation of Project Jericho, even if he did not live long enough to see it named. Doctor Aubman discovered the Sectra particles whilst studying the atmosphere for an energy source capable of supporting life. The extremely positively charged particles stood out on his equipment, and closer inspection lead Dr. Aubman to the conclusion that they were nothing classified yet by science. He kept his discovery hidden from his military employer for several months. World War I ended in 1918, and with it the need for the creation of biological weapons, so thusly the project was buried due to political pressure from within the American Government. Lacking private funding, Dr. Aubman was unable to continue his research, and he died in 1932. His files were all that remained of his work. DOCTOR ANDREW JOHNSON (1906-1942) The researcher who took the reins in Project Jericho in 1935. Although, when he first took the position, he was unaware of the Sectra 'wall' from which the project derived its name. He picked up the work from where Dr. Aubman had left off, his goal to create a biological weapon for defence of the United States in the face of growing unrest in Germany. His superiors did not originally intend to tell him about the Anomaly, but this attempt was undermined by the arrival of Alex Trenton in 1942. Ironically, it was the secret that his superiors kept from him that enabled him to complete the project asked of him. A substance (see file #713F6) from the Anomaly, provided by Mr. Trenton, was used to create the Creation (see file #713F7). ALEX TRENTON (?) A relative unknown, recruited by the OOS in 1942 to assist Dr. Johnson with his efforts to construct a biological weapon. The records of this are lost. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Internal file #713F6 TIMELINE THEORY This document serves to provide information and insight on the events of August 29th, 2027, the invasion of Reality and Toonity by Alez Rat. This document was produced by the Sectra Anomaly Research Department of the Global Federation of Nations, funded in part by the Government of the United States of America. Declassified as of July 23rd, 2079 by order of the Supreme High Court of Washington D.C. From a normal perspective, there is only one timeline of events in history. However, for a time traveller, there are millions upon millions of millions of different timelines. There are thousands upon thousands of minor changes happening in the timeline every minute of every day. However, in our history there is one important event that caused the timeline to skew as such: O R I G I N A L T I M E L I N E ---------------------------------------------------------- \ \ \-------------------------------------------------- D U P L I C A T E T I M E L I N E (Fig. 4a) The events in the second, duplicate timeline mirror the first, but occur in different circumstances. For example: ORIGINAL TIMELINE DUPLICATE TIMELINE * Humans create the Creations * Buster Bunny injures Alez's hand * Creations invade Toonity * Alez creates the Creations as a means of revenge * Alez is trapped whilst * Creations invade Toonity trapping the Creations * Alez and Creations are trapped in sectra in sectra In both timelines, the major events are the same. The means of reaching those major events are different in the second timeline. The second timeline appears to have been caused by the time travel of Buster Bunny. Whilst in the past he causes an injury to Alez Rat (in human form) that permanently scars him and fundamentally alters every event from that point onwards. INVASION In 2027, a major event occured that was to shape the entire timeline of both universes and the Anomaly, past, present, and future. August 29th, 2027 was the date that the second largest sectra portal in history was opened in Reality's version of Canada, by a Taiwanese scientist, Marvin Jones. This portal was used by Alez Rat, along with another portal in Toonity, to open a portal of a size that was deemed impossible by all scientists ever to study the Anomaly. Standing at 26 miles in diameter, and approximately half a mile in depth, this portal was the entryway for an undetermined number of Creations. Records of the time show a surge of gamma radiation of an unprecedented level. The portal was open for approximately seven hours before imploding upon itself. Although records from Toonity are difficult to obtain, it is believed that a similar portal was formed there. Side effects of the portal are as follows: Background radiation levels increased by 23%. Plant life in a 53 mile radius was poisoned and died within a few minutes. Temperature rises were on average 27 degrees F. Light levels increased by 65% for the duration of the portal's presence. Some wooden structures burst into flames a few minutes after the portal appeared. Seven hours after the initial opening, the Creations had destroyed a large number of buildings in the area of the portal. Another portal, not as big as the entry point for the Creations, was formed from the portal Marvin Jones had created. This portal was charged somehow and expanded explosively, before imploding, taking the large portal with it. The effect was similar to a black hole, sucking all matter around it into it. Exactly 12 minutes and seventeen seconds after this occurance, the last matter in Reality disappeared into the hole. The time for the same implosion in Toonity is unrecorded. This implosion lead to the collapse of the Sectra Anomaly, and the destruction of History itself. History defended itself by forming a new timeline, that did not include Alez's existence. This is the current timeline of existence. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Internal file #713F7 THE CREATIONS This document serves to provide information and insight on the Creations, a biological weapon created in the mid 20th century by Alez Rat/Alex Trenton. This document was produced by the Sectra Anomaly Research Department of the Global Federation of Nations, funded in part by the Government of the United States of America. Declassified as of July 23rd, 2079 by order of the Supreme High Court of Washington D.C. HISTORY Early in the 20th century, conflict between the Allies and Germany led pressure to be placed upon the resources of the USA to create a biological weapon to ensure the German defeat that the world was calling for. Doctor Jonathan Aubman conducted experiments but was unable to create a sentient biological weapon. The Germans were defeated with conventional weapons, and the need for Dr. Aubman's experiments became nil. His research grant was cancelled, and the project all but died out. The PBX (Creations) came into being via two methods, differing slightly between two timelines. In the original timeline of existence, Dr. Andrew Johnson discovered the properties of Sectra as a chemical component in his experiments. The date of Creation is not recorded. However, the Creations proved to be unstable and unreliable as a weapon, and Einstein provided the means for atomic weaponry which again made the need for Creations nil. The Creations were deemed dangerous and imprisoned within the Sectra Anomaly to prevent their release upon the world, until they broke free and attacked Toonity several years later. In the secondary timeline, caused by Buster Bunny's time travel, Doctor Andrew Johnson was killed by Alex Trenton. Trenton used the results of Dr. Johnson's experiments combined with an element from within the Sectra Anomaly (the nature of this substance is unknown; rumors circulate that the substance was in fact part of History, but these are unconfirmed) to construct the first Creation. However, a small sample of the substance from the Anomaly was left in Reality, and General Whitfield unwittingly caused a second Creation to be formed in Reality. These Creations were later reunited in the Anomaly and formed one, and later attacked Toonity. SPECIFICS The exact composition of the Creations is unknown. All research relating to their inception has been destroyed, and no samples remain for research purposes. However, a little is known about their nature. Creations appeared as amorphous black blobs, and were seemingly able to travel from Reality to Toonity and back via the Anomaly with no ill effects. They also possessed the abilty to mold with both Toons and Real people, absorbing them into their own mass. Assumptions lead us to believe this is fatal for the victim.
